Legend has it that the source at Fonte S. Andrea was discovered in the hot summer of 1805 by Adalberto Boccia, a Napoleonic officer charting the geographical surroundings for the state of Parma.
Taking a break from his work, he stopped to rest on the bank of the river Taro where he heard the crystal gurgling of a fresh water source bubbling through a nearby porous rock shelf. Having quenched his thirst with this light and naturally sparkling mineral water, he quickly filled his empty water-bottle and returned to his base, praising the "magic source" he had fortunately stumbled upon. And so, the source became known to his friends and the local community - and S. Andrea mineral water was born.
